Delete your account

Effective: May 10, 2026

The fastest way

You can delete your account directly from inside the Elderoak iPhone app — no email, no waiting:

  1. Open Elderoak.
  2. Tap the gear icon in the top-right of the home screen to open Settings.
  3. Scroll to the Account section.
  4. Tap Delete my account.
  5. Read the confirmation screen, type DELETE to confirm, and tap the red button.

The deletion runs immediately. Within seconds your sign-in, profile, and family data are permanently removed from our servers. The app signs you out and returns to the welcome screen.

What gets deleted

Everything tied to your Elderoak account, specifically:

  • Your profile: name, email, Apple ID link, sign-in credentials.
  • Medications + dose history: schedules, taken-or-missed records, refill counts.
  • Appointments + voice notes: doctor visits, location notes, audio recordings of those visits.
  • Observations + vitals: blood pressure, blood sugar, mood, pain notes, ADL logs.
  • Saved documents: anything uploaded to the documents vault (advance directives, insurance cards, lab reports).
  • Calendar feed: any subscription URLs you generated for Apple Calendar / Google Calendar / Outlook. Existing subscribers will stop receiving updates.
  • Notification log + push tokens: anything we used to send reminders to your phone.
  • Subscription record: the server-side row we keep about your Pro tier, if any.

If you are the only caregiver in your family group (or a solo cared-for person), the entire family group + everyone's data is removed when you delete your account.

If your family has other caregivers, their data stays — only your account, your contributions to the shared records, and your access are removed.

What stays (and why)

A small amount of data persists for legal or operational reasons:

  • Apple subscription: if you have an active Pro subscription, Apple manages the billing relationship — we don't cancel it on your behalf. Cancel it separately in iOS Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions → Elderoak. Otherwise it auto-renews on the original cycle even after your account is gone. Apple typically refunds the unused portion if you contact reportaproblem.apple.com within 14 days.
  • Anonymous server logs: ephemeral access logs (timestamps, status codes — no personal data) age out on a 30-day rolling basis as part of normal operations.
  • Backups: full database backups have a 30-day retention; the deleted data falls out of those naturally as the rolling window advances. We do not actively restore your data from backup once an account is deleted.

If you can't access the app

If you cannot sign in (forgot your password, lost the device, deleted the app), email us at from the email address on the account. Include the phrase “account deletion request” in the subject line. We will verify your identity (typically by sending a code to the email address on file) and complete the deletion within 7 calendar days.

Just want to take a break?

You don't have to delete to step away. Signing out (Settings → Account → Sign out) keeps your data intact for when you return. You can also pause Pro at any time from iOS Settings → Subscriptions.

Reinstalling later

If you delete your account and later change your mind, you can re-create one — but your previous family data, notes, medications, and history will not come back. We don't retain anything from a deleted account that could be used to restore it.

You'll need to invite family members again, set up your medication schedule from scratch, and re-upload any documents you want in the vault.

Questions

We're a small team. If anything in this process is unclear, or you want to talk to a person before you delete, email and we'll respond within one business day.

Or if you haven't installed Elderoak yet, you can read our App Store listing and decide later.
