Add a medication by scanning the label
Typing a long drug name off a pharmacy label is where mistakes creep in. Point your camera at the label instead — Elderoak reads the name and dosage so you can confirm and save in seconds.

How it works
- 1On the Meds tab, choose Add medication and tap the scan-label option.
- 2Hold the camera over the prescription label — Elderoak reads the drug name and dosage from the text.
- 3Check the details, set the schedule, and save. The medication is now on the family's shared list with refill tracking.
Common questions
Does the scan read the label automatically?
Elderoak uses on-device text recognition to pull the drug name and dosage off the label, then asks you to confirm before saving — so you get the speed of a scan with a human check on accuracy.
What if the label is worn or hard to read?
You can always type or correct any field after scanning. The scan is there to save time on the long drug name; the schedule and notes are quick to set by hand.
Is the photo of the label sent anywhere?
The text recognition runs on your device to read the label. Elderoak stores the medication details you save to the shared family record, not a photo of the bottle.
